ICT for International Learning

Full course description

Who is this training package for?

Teachers who want to develop their ICT skills to support international learning and global citizenship at their school. It is particularly suitable for teachers looking to work with schools in other parts of the world and who are thinking of using technology to communicate and collaborate.

What will it cover?

Split into modules that combine both theory and practical examples, learning will focus on:

  • how to use ICT for professional networking
  • getting started with ICT in international projects
  • exploring the range of online services available to you, including those from the British Council
  • why students need to be prepared for the digital world
  • getting the most out of ICT in international projects
the potential risks around using the internet and the role of your school in e-safety
  • how to evaluate ICT projects effectively.

What will it teach me about ICT for international learning?

As well as exploring the range of online materials available and some of the issues associated with the rights of material on the web, this training package will also focus on the practical safeguards you can put in place to support your work in e-safety.

What will I take away?

This course aims to give teachers a basic understanding of the benefits of using online content to support international project work.

In order to deepen your own learning and make the ideas in the course available to others, all the activities have been designed for discussion with colleagues in mind. This may be, for example, teachers in your locality who want to develop their use of ICT in the classroom and would benefit from learning together and sharing ideas and outcomes.

There are also opportunities for you to share your own learning with other course participants via a dedicated forum.
